Keo was contracted for General Contracting Services for demolition of Buildings 1B, 1B and 1C, modernization of Building 1D and construct a new Welcome Center at the Job Corp Center located in Detroit, MI. A Task Phasing plan was followed throughout the project.

All task areas construct new mechanical systems and all related electrical and architectural work. Coordination with the owner was required throughout the project to minimize impact to all areas of work. The facility remained in operation throughout the project, so extensive health and safety measures were maintained and followed.

  • TASK 1: took place in Bldg. 1, which involved the demolition of ground floor Wellness Center and 1st floor Recruitment center. Prior to the commence of Task 1, KEO constructed a temporary Security Office. Work of Task 1: included the abatement and demolition of Building 1A, along with the demolition of entrance canopy at Building 1D. KEO also constructed the ground floor Wellness Center and first floor Work for TASK2: included the abatement and demolition of Bldg. 1C and SE ground and first floors; construct walls south of Career Services for three offices, installation of roof top equipment including strWork for TASK3: included the demolition and abatement of Bldg. 1B and NE ground floor.
  • Work for Task 4: included NW ground floor, first floor and complete construction of additional work, installation of remaining joists, new roof top equipment and completion of all exterior work to Bldg. 1D including window installation at the west elevation; and completion of all site work.
  • Work for TASK 5: construct core offices, classrooms and ramp in the first-floor core in Bldg. 1D, removal of temporary window and wall, replacement of finishes in cafeteria/kitchen.
